This lesson, based on Psalm 23, discusses the attributes of entrusting ourselves to Jesus.  Looking at the words of David, three main concepts are developed: 1) entrusting your life to the Shepherd, 2) entrusting your plans to the Shepherd, and 3) following the Shepherd.  This lesson concludes with an invitation following the encouragement to trust God with your today as well as your future.

Building a Bridge to the Future

Beginning with a reading from Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 and using Proverbs 29:18 as an outline, this final lesson on Building Bridges looks at envisioning the future.  The three main points of the lesson are: 1) building a bridge to the future requires vision, 2) two things in common with future bridges, and 3) sharing a common pursuit.  The lesson ends with the encouragement to develop true vision and an invitation is offered to anyone needing to respond to the message.

God's Benefits

This lesson looks at the first five verses of Psalm 103, where David praises the Lord with his soul and whole being as he reflects on the benefits he has received.  The three main benefits emphasized are forgiveness, redemption and being crowned with love and mercy. The lesson concludes with an invitation and is followed by a 2019/2020 budget summary being presented to the congregation.

Building Blocks for Enduring Families

This lesson, based on Psalm 127, explores the building blocks necessary for enduring families.  The four building blocks discussed are: 1) a strong sense of commitment, 2) a strong sense of communion, 3) strong sense of communication, and 4) a strong sense of consecration.  The lesson concludes with the encouragement to delve into the Bible and follow God’s blueprint for our families.

Relationships-Building a Family Foundation

In this lesson on building a strong family foundation, Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 7:24-27 is explored in the context of building the right kind of foundation in the family.  The two men in the story are compared to each other, one being wise for building a foundation on solid rock and one being foolish for setting a foundation on sand. The main concepts explored are the importance of a strong foundation and how to build a family foundation that will last.  The lesson concludes with an invitation to join the family of God.

Building Bridges: Preserving Relationships

In this lesson on relationships, Philippians 2:1-8 provides key concepts on maintaining the beauty of the church.  Paul’s emphasis is on preserving unity by having the same mind, the same love and the same purpose. The main points explored in this lesson are preserving the beauty of our relationships and following the perfect example of  Jesus. The lesson concludes with an invitation to respond to Jesus.

Using 1 Timothy 3:8-12 as an outline, this lesson explores the qualifications for deacons and their office of dignity.   Paul, the Apostle, provides a detailed list of the attributes men who desire to be deacons must exhibit. This lesson discusses the following points: 1) Deacon is a God given title of dignity, 2) nine spiritual qualifications of a deacon, and 3) two rewards for men of dignity.  The lesson concludes with the installment of 3 new deacons serving the Linder congregation and with the invitation to follow Jesus and respond to his message.

In this character study of John, the Baptizer, verses from Luke, Matthew and John are utilized to clarify our understanding of several important personality traits John exhibited.  As we look at John’s passion and desire to live like he had nothing to lose, we see: 1) John the Herald, 2) John the Unworthy, 3) John the Martyr, and 4) John the Teacher. The lesson concludes with the encouragement to be like John by using your life to point people to the glory of Jesus and his cross, and the invitation was offered to non-Christians to come and see who Jesus is. 

Together We Can Change the World

In this lesson on togetherness in the church, the concept of making an impact and changing the world is explored.  From Ephesians 4:31 - 5:2 and related scriptures, the key points covered are: 1) dream big, 2) big dreams start small, and 3) big dreams act now.  The lesson concludes with the invitation to first change yourself by becoming a Christian by being baptized, or if you are already a Christian, to recommit your life to Jesus.

Together We Grow Stronger

In these continuing lessons based on the book of Ephesians, the strength found in numbers is explored.  Beginning with a look at the early church and its inception at Pentecost, this lesson covers three key points: 1) there is strength found in numbers, 2) we are stronger when we are united as one, and 3) growth requires change.  The lesson ends with the encouragement to respond to the calling to join the church.

In this lesson, the idea of love being the defining characteristic of the church is explored.  Based on scriptures from the book of Ephesians, the lesson covers 4 key points: 1) we experience love together, 2) love is God’s plan, 3) love binds us together as one, and 4) three ways we experience God’s love.  The lesson concludes with the invitation being offered for anyone in need to come to Christ through baptism.

The lesson looks at the church, the purpose and design that invites people to be together with Christ and one another.  Using passages from Ephesians, Romans and other related scriptures, the main points covered are: 1) the definition of peace, 2) peace and unity, 3) peace in God’s presence, and 4) the way of peace.  The lesson concludes with the encouragement to accept Christ ‘s offer and come together as part of his church.

Elder Installation

Using various scriptures, the qualifications for and appointment of new elders is covered. In the process, 3 main areas are addressed: 1) Charge to the elders, 2) Responsibilities of the congregation, and 3) the Unity of the body.  Following the acceptance of appointments, concluding prayers were offered, as well as an invitation to anyone that might be ready to obey Jesus and be baptized into his kingdom.

Spiritual Blessings In Christ

Based on Ephesians 1:1-14, this lesson explores the spiritual blessings we receive “in Christ” as outlined by Paul in his letter to the saints in Ephesus.  The lesson discusses the blessings we have in Christ, God’s reasons for bestowing spiritual blessings on us, the reality of God’s pre-planning of these blessings, and identifying some specific blessings.  It concludes with the encouragement to meditate on the many blessings in Christ and with an invitation to come to Christ in order to receive these many blessings.

A Commendable Faith

From Luke 7:1-10 and Matthew 8:5-13, this lesson introduces us to the Roman Centurion who demonstrated remarkable faith in Jesus and received a miraculous blessing in return.  The study looks at three attributes of his commendable faith: 1) character, 2) humility, and 3) trust. The lesson concludes with an invitation to follow Jesus.
